New projects with schedules really throw a wrench into the smooth works of a previous schedule, but I’m coping. This morning I was greeted by a kind of grasshopper sitting on the arm rest of my chair and an ant on my ipad. Like the tale from long ago, I offered it safe passage across the water as I extended my zori to it. Thankfully, it took the offer as you can see.

More disruptions though. My latex swim cap which had helped me keep my hair from what chlorine was in the pool and which cut corners for me since I would not have a headful of wet hair after swimming, has not really been a friend. I guess I’m allergic to latex! My face turned red, a dry and itchy band along my forehead appeared, some mild respiratory issues! Ugh! Me and my sensitive skin, it is what I’ve inherited from my father. I was aware of latex’s issues with some people, but i thought I had escaped being one of them. I suppose as body chemistry changes so do skin sensitivities, or perhaps what they put into the mix for swim caps these days. Hard to pin point exactly. But at any rate, here I am in my pool chair enjoying the morning and preparing for a swim. More later, got to get in.

Ah, nice swim. It helps to work each joint afterwards to remind them of what movement is.

I had been noticing these last few days something moving very fast in my peripheral vision. It was not a mammal as large as me, however, and so when I could not spot it I was not too concerned. I did call out “grasshopper” one day, but it lead nowhere. But now he has declared himself the fast moving trickster I have been 567890p[/.,mjhg fcxz noticing in my yard.

This morning the woodpeckers who like my very tall palm trees are vocal. There are butterflies - the yellow ones - beginning to emerge and flutter about.

Yesterday I spoke with a fellow with a very resonate voice, a senior engineer with a Bose repair shop to offer, and in our chat he described a funny happening he noticed years ago in his Washington DC apartment: people with ladders would come to the wall across the street and, putting their ladders up, climb up them and gaze into the area on the other side. He said this happened every day. One day he decided to discover the secret of what they were looking at and found that Mirro had painted on a wall for a friend who lived on the other side: that was what the ladder people were gazing at, photographing, etc.

Funny things happen all around us; you have to keep your eyes open and your mind free. But things like schedules can shut that process down altogether. That’s why, before i get too entrenched in a certain pattern to life, I like to change it up.
