Bless you, Rep. Green

You can read Rep. Al Green’s impeachment resolution here. It is not his first one, but this is a barn-burning good one. In his resolution, the Texas Democrat argues:

Our country and the lives of people within it are at risk as President Donald John Trump is a great threat to the United States democratic republic, its Constitution, and democracy…

and he asks whether any person should be above justice (no) and quotes Dick Cheney, former Republican vice president, calling the raping felon the greatest threat to the U.S.A. in all our country’s history.

He then proceeds to list the raping felons crimes — flouting the government’s separation of powers; turning the democracy into a authoritarian regime; rabid devotion to the extrajudicial ICE and CBP; overseeing and then covering up unjustified murders, among others. He continues to be a threat, according to Green’s resolution and reality. He mentions murder victims Renée Good and Alex Pretti, shot and killed by ICE in January in Minnesota — with no consequences to their murderers.

Mentioned, as well, is Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, shot and killed in July in Houston (Green’s own state) by government agents who were suspiciously not wearing body cameras. And again, in July, this time in Maine, Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, was shot and killed.

All of this is with the support and blessings of Donald J. Trump, the greatest threat to our democracy.

I so admire Rep. Green.

I so wish his colleagues would pay attention.
