Hi friends,
Let’s be honest — it’s nearly impossible not to be at least a little gay in June. That’s not me talking, that’s the way it is. We’re just here to hydrate and facilitate.
All month long, we’ll be shaking Fire Island Dry Gin martinis across town like we mean it. It’s Pride. It’s party season. It’s Supergay high tide.
We’re kicking things off next week with a cocktail hour at Loring Place to celebrate the season (and BCB). Expect $10 martinis, wood-fired pizza, and a good time.
The next day, we’re headed to Asbury Park for a poolside happy hour at The Saint Laurent Social Hour. Come get wet.
Plenty more to come — keep your calendar unlocked and your spirits cold.
Happy Pride.
Please enjoy this week’s letter below

The Ultimate Queer Bar Map
Eater’s updated guide to NYC’s best gay bars and queer-owned restaurants is a good reminder of how many different ways there are to be gay in this city—and how many old favorites aren’t around anymore.
Pro tip: Go early, tip heavy, stay hot.
Lisbonata – Crown Heights
Pasteis de nata, brick and mortar edition. George Kaya’s Portuguese tarts made the farmers market rounds, now they’ve got a permanent home. Pair with a Variety Coffee espresso. 619 St. Johns Place. More Info
Arcane Estate – West Village
Green marble, La Cabra pastries, and espresso so serious it whispers. This moody new Cornelia Street café imports rare beans from Panama and rewards slow sipping. More Info
The Frick Finally Gets a Cafe
The Westmoreland is open at The Frick. It’s moody, expensive, and kind of exactly what the museum needed. Props to the Rucola/June team for pulling it off.
Too Many Critics, Not Enough Judgment
The NYT dropped its “Top 100 NYC Restaurants.” And promptly got dragged by J. Lee from Feed Me. His issue? No $$ spots in the top 10. A committee-picked list that reads more like PR than passion. Where’s the chaos? Where’s the weird?
Best New Restaurants, According to People Who Still Have Taste Buds
Grub Street’s latest round-up for June has range: a Filipino tasting menu in Queens, a Neapolitan pizza counter inside a laundromat, and something fancy in Fort Greene called Spoleto that we’re pretending we discovered first.
A leather-boothed reminder that NYC was always kind of a mess, but a beautiful one. Minetta feels like the kind of place you’d smoke indoors (you can’t) and toast to the death of bad taste (you should). Get the Black Label Burger, skip the crowd-pleasers, and sit at the bar if you’re solo. $$$, Greenwich Village.
Perfect For: Power moves. Lovers in leather. People who read magazines.
Strawberry + Fernet: It Works
The drink of the month isn’t another Spritz variant. It’s a low-proof Planter’s Punch riff made with strawberry syrup and fernet. Yes, fernet. You don’t heat the syrup, you just let strawberries sit in sugar and chill.
Also recommended:
Strawberries + Montenegro
Strawberries + Sfumato
Strawberries + “two whole ounces of Peychaud’s”
File under: sweet, bitter, perfect for June.
The NYT 100.
You made a list with zero spice and forgot Cervo’s? C’mon!
Shygirl – “thicc”
New release alert. She’s in her experimental pop-baddie era and we love it.Lafawndah – “Substancia”
Sensual, intense, borderline spiritual. Your Fire Island pregame soundtrack.
