Hi friends,
We took a break from the newsletter as worked on launching our Fire Island Dry Gin on Friday afternoon. The response has been wonderful, we are happy it’s connecting with so many people.
This gin has been a labor of love for the past year. The idea first came to life after we connected with Sue Wicks from Violet Cove Oysters. She holds the first license to farm kelp in New York State, not only does it protect her oysters and filter the water, but it also happens to be delicious in both food and drinks.
Kelp is the star botanical in our gin, alongside elderflower, pepperberry, and finger limes.
Sue is a former WNBA player and, as she puts it, also “Supergay.” We’re proud to partner with her and help support the growth of kelp farming in New York.
The weather’s warming up, which means it’s time to get outside. We hope to see you somewhere nice, with a Supergay cocktail in hand.
As always, my inbox is open.
–Tom

The queer-owned Silver Lake bar is back—and this time there’s a full grill and a dreamy patio that looks like the set of Something's Gotta Give. The reopening menu includes thoughtful updates on bar food (hello, pickled shrimp toast), plus cocktails designed to linger over. It’s already filling up fast, so grab a seat while you can.

Yes, Wegmans. The upscale grocery store is now operating a serious restaurant next door, led by chef David Lieu (ex-Jungsik). Expect raw bar towers, a full cocktail program, and a sleek design that has zero trace of grocery store energy. Honestly? We’re intrigued.

This new wine bar and bistro on Avenue A leans into cozy-but-chic minimalism. The short menu includes things like asparagus salad with bottarga and miso salmon toast—plus a seriously good wine list that avoids the usual natty wine clichés. Bonus: there’s a tiny mezzanine if you want a more private hang. More Info
You already know it. Maybe you’ve even made out under one of the clay pipes. But Keen's remains one of the most dependable dining experiences in Manhattan: mutton chop, creamed spinach, whiskey list that reads like a novella. Old school service, dark wood, velvet booths. Don’t skip it just because it’s not trending. More Info

In what can only be described as a cursed concept from the jump, Trump Tower has officially opened its new pizzeria on the ground floor—because apparently we needed another reminder that bad ideas still get greenlit on Fifth Avenue. Dubbed simply “Trump Pizza,” the menu includes all the classics, plus an entire pie covered in gold leaf because of course it does.
Early reviews say the pizza is—unsurprisingly—bland, overpriced, and about as subtle as a MAGA hat at Lucien. The branding is heavy-handed, the vibes are weird, and the irony of calling it “New York pizza” inside a tower with bulletproof glass and zero locals is…a lot.
A. G. Cook — "Silver Thread Golden Needle" — it’s giving surreal cowboy road trip through a digital dream.
Omar Apollo — "Spite" — for the nights when a slow burn synth beat feels more honest than talking.
