Geraldine · Suntrap Newsletter

It’s been a minute since I sent a more vibes based newsletter. I do have a gift in the form of a vegetable/herb/flower spreadsheet for you, but let’s chat a little first.

It’s raining, the wood stove is cranking, I’m putting off thinking about returning to class tomorrow. Let me instead chronicle some personal/universal events that prove spring is really here:

  • Leaving my winter jacket at a friend’s house because somehow I left without it and didn’t notice? Bliss.

  • A sudden, insatiable urge to listen to Maria Minerva

  • Increase in frequency of weird little adventures

  • Daily Nettle tea feeling non-negotiable

  • Linen making a wrinkly appearance in my layer stack. Put linen pants under a skirt and thank me later.

  • Urge to sit and walk around outside at night almost unbearable to deny

  • Thinking about cutting my bangs more than usual and braiding it in new ways

  • & finally…most literally…stratification coming to a close as tiny cotyledons appear in the greenhouse

The first seedlings to emerge this season are: seaside goldenrod, downy goldenrod, flax leaved stiff aster, and stout blue eyed grass. In another part of the greenhouse, sitting on a heat mat, snapdragons and peppers have sprouted - though that feels slightly less like a miracle given the electric mat beneath them forcing their hand.

going seed mode

So, my gift to you. A spreadsheet. You are now contractually obligated to tell me if you use this so that I can swell with pride in the event that someone finds my little formulas useful. Here is my filled out Vegetable/Flower/Herb spreadsheet for the 2026 growing season. Here is a blank version that you can fill out with all the seeds you plan to start. The exciting thing about it is that you can plug in your last frost date and some info from the seed packet and the spreadsheet will generate a sow date and a harvest date.

I already shared about my native plant spreadsheets, but I’m really proud of them so here you go again: filled out version, version with blanks for you to fill in.

If you want to use/edit any of these spreadsheets, just go to File > Make a copy.

EDM = Estimated Date of Maturity = Harvest Date

btw: join me in taking a small but meaningful step in leaving behind the surveillance state of our nightmares for something a little more encrypted: I used Proton Mail to host the spreadsheets above and I’m moving most of my chats to signal.

Standouts From The Smith Bulb Show

Wishing you a week of unexpected yet undeniable springtime occurrences.

xo,
Geraldine

P.S. if you have made it this far, go ahead and make my day - click that freaky little heart thing.
