Hello from a breezy 87F (30c) day! As my friend James Scully remarked, “I never thought ninety degrees would feel so cool!” My morning started with breakfast with my friend Youpo who is part of the newly launched Dazed China. We chatted about the magazine, the fashion media situation in China, and our start in fashion.

My first showroom appointment of the day was Hender Scheme, a Japanese leather brand that first came to prominence about ten years ago by recreating classic sneaker styles in natural leather. By now it offers a full range of leather good and they are also excellent. There were great bags, innovative shoes with Vibram soles and a range of leather household goods. Somehow I was drawn to their wonderful keychains out of all things!

My next stop was Irenisa, a Japanese (quelle surprise!) brand I’ve been following, and that is now in the good hands of several ex-Yohji Yamamoto people. I quite liked the collection of relaxed tailoring and there were also some impressive fabric treatments. It’s a story we know, but also one that the brand does well.

I then stopped by the Daido Moriyama exhibition at the Henri Cartier Bresson foundation. It’s an intimate show based around Moriyama’s falling out of love with photography in his youth and falling back into it again as he reframed the medium from the classic staged grandiosity (I suppose he was not an Irving Penn fan) into something immediate and intimate. I thought it was great!

From there I biked down to St Germain to meet my friend Judd from Selfridges, and we had a quick lunch before the Sacai show.
