Sunglasses are one of those things that can look incredible sitting on a table and then somehow become an entirely different pair of sunglasses the second you put them on.
Too wide. Too round. Too severe. Weirdly tiny. Suddenly your eyebrows have entered the conversation.
And while I’m firmly in the wear whatever makes you happy camp, there is a reason certain frame shapes tend to feel especially flattering.
It mostly comes down to balance, contrast and proportion.
The easiest rule is this:
Your sunglasses can either echo the shape of your face or create contrast with it. Usually, a little contrast is what makes everything click.
So if you have softer features, a more angular frame can add definition. If your features are naturally angular, curved frames can soften them. And if your face is already fairly balanced, congratulations, you have been given an unreasonable amount of sunglasses freedom.
