Euro Summer Packing (With a Wedding in a Few Weeks…)

I feel like I’m not fully qualified to give packing advice for long trips—but I am very qualified in overpacking. Packing for a Euro summer trip is honestly one of my favorite activities. It’s a little chaotic, slightly overpacked, but very intentional. I always bring too much, which is both a blessing and a curse. Yes, I’m the one lugging two 70+ pound suitcases from place to place—but at least I have everything I could possibly need!

This trip is starting in New York for less than 48 hours, then London → Sicily with Reformation → back to London → South of France → ending in Nice with Jimmy Choo, so the wardrobe needs to do a lot while still feeling effortless (in theory).

Also… I get married in just a few weeks, which makes this trip such a highlight of the summer, but also (slightly) stressful being away for so long with the wedding so close. I’m very much in the mindset of soaking it all in while also mentally keeping a running checklist at all times (don’t worry, most of the wedding is set, but of course there are always a few lingering to-dos, for example… I still don’t know how I am going to do my hair!!!!). Overall though, just feeling really grateful for it all.

Let’s start with the obvious: summer dresses are the star of the show. Linen dresses, easy cotton slips—anything I can throw on and instantly feel put together. And Reformation does this perfectly. I’m very excited to lean into an Italian summer wardrobe à la Ref linen (cough cough, the perfect one is the Sara Linen Dress!). What I love about a great summer dress is that it works for everything, morning walks, long lunches, and late dinners. I always overpack dresses and never regret it.

Shoes… this is where things start to spiral. I always overpack shoes and somehow never bring enough purses, which I need to get better at. I’m bringing multiple flip flops, wedge sandals because they’re actually comfortable and practical (rare), plus ballet flats and sneakers for walking. I also, for some reason, packed a pair of boots for London to wear with short sundresses—which feels chic in theory and slightly impractical for the rest of the trip, but we’ll see. Also, the Jimmy Choo pieces I’m bringing are unreal—the most perfect shade of green in heels and bags. A dream.

While I’m always packing my statement pieces—the things I’m most excited to wear (think color, pattern, a slightly bold moment)—I’ve realized it’s really the necessities and staples that hold everything together. The simple tee, the easy dress, the pieces you don’t overthink are what make the entire suitcase actually work. And for me, that very much includes my Bombas socks. They’re one of those staples I don’t even question packing—I know I’ll reach for them every single day, whether it’s for a morning walk or styled with ballet flats (the ruffle ones!), sneakers, or boots. They make everything feel a little more put together while also being incredibly comfortable, which, on a trip like this, is kind of the whole point.

I’ve recently become a packing cube person, which feels like a personality shift, but it has actually been so helpful in keeping everything somewhat organized. And my number one rule: always pack a foldable duffle in your suitcase. It’s for “just in case” shopping, but let’s be honest—it’s not an if, it’s a when.

Ending the trip in Nice with Jimmy Choo, which I’m very excited about, and I’m bringing their sneakerina shoe, which is kind of the perfect hybrid—chic but still comfortable. Paired with Bombas socks, obviously.

Stay tuned for fun rompers, bright dresses, and of course some very bridal pieces because of courseeeee I am in my bridal era (for not much longer, might I add). PRO TIP: At the end of the trip when my suitcase starts to run low on looks, I turn to a statement skirt (always love a sequin moment) + the perfect white tank (umm thank you again Bombas!) + a coordinated strappy heel. The outfit remains comfortable and cool with the tee but fun with the loud skirt.

Overall, I’m packing pieces that can mix, match, and repeat without anyone noticing. Easy, a little polished, a little fun. And if I bring too much… that’s between me and my (multiple) suitcases. Happy packing for all your fun summer trips!!!
