One day I was driving home from work in my Mercedes Benz when I noticed that my monitor for my computer, satnav , radio and Car play all stopped working and the centre dash lights all stopped working and on top of that no front or rear parking censors , Well I thought to myself this could be a big money problem?I thought to myself I would have to book the car into a garage and would have to wait for a appointment date and would probably take some time to figure out the problem.
Well being an ex - mechanic I decided to find the fuse box peace of paper situated in the rear fuse box and I removed the the fuses that showed on the peace of paper and replaced placed them in the rear fuse box in the boot and the ones in the fuse box under the bonnet, but I must say from what I could see none of them had actually blown , But I replaced them more as a precaution more than anything as I found with my last Mercedes because the fuse box in the boot has no lid apart from a carpet type side panel and the fuse box under the bonnet has a lid but doesn’t seal very well and they tend over time to get damp over the winter and very dry in the summer and they then have a very bad connection on the fuse so then when I checked and replaced them I got a can of WD40 and sprayed both fuse boxes all over the fuses and replaced the lid of the fuse box under the bottom and then started the car up and then everything was all working fine, All I’ll remember to do now is spray the fuse in future when I do the services next time.
So remember if something electrical fails to work, remember check the fuses and replace as necessary but always replace fuse one at a time and of the same amp number and it’s a good idea to spray the fusees with WD40 or something similar.
