For my 16th birthday, my mom gave me a delicate gold band with a small diamond in the center. A ring she received on her 16th birthday and a ring my grandmother received on hers. This delicate yellow-gold ring was passed down over three generations of matrilineage, given to a mother’s daughter at a turning of age moment. For decades, this precious ring was kept safe in my jewelry box, un-worn.
With this diamond and a combination of sourced stones, SPUR designed a curved diamond band to compliment my 10-year anniversary diamond solitaire upgrade I received in 2024.
Working with SPUR, a woman‑owned jewelry studio in New York, was a deeply meaningful experience that blended creativity, memory, and collaboration. I came to them with heirloom pieces from my late mom—most importantly, the gold and diamond ring she gave me on my 16th birthday. Those stones carried a history I wanted to honor, but I hoped to transform them into something that felt aligned with who I am now.
From the first consultation, SPUR approached the project with care and curiosity. Their intake process invited me to share not only my design ideas but also the emotional significance behind the materials. Together, we explored sketches, proportions, and small design pivots that helped refine the concept without losing the heart of the original pieces.
Throughout the process, SPUR balanced expert guidance with genuine collaboration. They listened closely to my aesthetic preferences while suggesting thoughtful adjustments that elevated the design. What emerged was a bespoke ring that feels both contemporary and deeply personal—a piece that carries my mom’s legacy in a form I can wear every day.
The final ring is more than a piece of jewelry; it’s a bridge between memory and the present, shaped through intentional design and a partnership that honored both sentiment and craft. You will not regret working with Spur!
Thank you, Anika! We loved bringing this beautiful piece to life for you. 💌
