Do you work with platinum?
We love working in platinum. It’s a naturally white metal, so unlike white gold, it doesn’t require rhodium plating to maintain its color.
Platinum is exceptionally dense and durable. Fun fact, a solid 4-inch cube of platinum weighs close to 50 pounds!
That density makes it a great choice for securely setting gemstones in pieces meant to last generations.
It is, however, more complicated to work with than gold. Due to its exceptional density, platinum melts at much higher temperatures, is more resistant to shaping, and takes longer to finish and polish. On average, a platinum piece requires about 30 percent more time to finish than its gold counterpart. It requires specialized training and equipment, but when handled properly, the results are beautiful! We especially love pairing platinum with 18k yellow gold in mixed-metal designs.

Is it bad luck to use my ex’s diamond?
The nice thing about repurposing a stone is that it can have a completely new meaning. I like to think: new design, new energy. Instead of being tied to a past chapter, it can be something that reflects you now. On top of that, we will be professionally cleaning your stone and no ex-energy can survive that process, I promise. If it helps, we’ll even sage it. Not long ago a client asked us to charge her moonstone under the full moon so that it would be imbued with transformative energy, and we loved doing it.

What happens if my fingers change size over time?
It’s completely normal for finger size to fluctuate. Fingers can change throughout the day and seasons due to temperature and humidity, and over the years as our bodies naturally evolve.
Many rings can be sized up or down without issue. Resizing becomes more complex with eternity bands or rings with continuous engraving patterns that go all the way around the band.
If future resizing is important, we can account for that from the beginning and guide you toward designs that allow for easier adjustments later. Our goal is always to create pieces that grow with you because jewelry is meant to be worn!
