On Tuesday, a car driven by an 87-year-old woman crashed into a Lululemon store in Century Square, Texas, smashing a window and damaging some display mannequins. The uninjured driver was “pulling in to park and hit the gas instead of the brake pedal, plunging the car through a storefront window,” according to a local news report.

While the shop itself will no doubt be quickly returned to its former glories, this small mishap is in fact a perfect metaphor for the long, extended car crash that the wider Lululemon brand — once a darling of the stock market and the gold standard for activewear start-ups and consumers the world over — has endured in recent times.
