FT pilot project: Together with our research partner, we successfully completed the first phase of our Fischer-Tropsch (FT) pilot project. This achievement led to the production of Spark’s very first FT e-fuel and delivered critical insights into optimal operating conditions. Demo plant: Development of our industrial-scale, demand-responsive e-fuel demo plant is accelerating. BE Fellows: We’re thrilled to share that Spark has been selected for the 5th cohort of Breakthrough Energy Fellows! This week, our co-founders are in Washington, D.C., participating in an inspiring 3-day kick-off event alongside visionary startups and world-class mentors. This marks a huge step forward in our mission to decarbonize energy at scale.
IP development: This quarter, we filed our third patent application to secure Spark’s breakthrough RWGS technology. Our team worked relentlessly to reinforce our leadership in this core process.
RWGS pilot: Big news: construction of our RWGS pilot plant is complete, and commissioning began just weeks ago! Together with our EPC partner, we’re on track for a smooth transition into the startup phase in early Q1 2026—a major step forward.
Process simulation: Leveraging the expertise of our newly hired process simulation engineer, we have significantly advanced our simulation capabilities. A solid foundation for detailed plant modeling is now in place, and early results have already provided valuable insights into CapEx optimization, bringing us closer to smarter and more efficient designs.

Grant funding: We’re excited to share that our project “CirCO” has received approval for funding from IBB and the City of Berlin through the Masterplan Industriestadt (MPI) Berlin initiative, co-financed by the European Union. This strong support underscores the importance of our work in developing materials for Spark’s syngas technology and creating pathways to convert CO₂ and green hydrogen into hydrocarbons for sustainable aviation fuel. Techno-economics: We are refining our techno-economics by developing a dedicated TEA model for flexibility assumptions. This addition is a key element of our technology framework and will enable us to better quantify the benefits of demand-responsive operations.
Demo partnerships: As part of the demonstration plant development, we are in close discussions with research and corporate partners—several LOIs have already been signed. These collaborations will help us build a strong consortium and a robust concept for upcoming grant applications.
Industry networking: To strengthen Spark’s presence and highlight the broader economic value of our mission, we actively represented Spark at leading industry events this quarter. Among others we pitched at Brandenburg Hydrogen Day 2025, and Green Fuels Import Conference and ACI European e-Fuels conference.

Recognition: We’re proud to share that Spark was featured among the “100 Minds of Berlin Science 2025” by Tagesspiegel—an acknowledgment of our contribution to advancing sustainable technologies. In addition, Spark was selected for the Cleantech 50 to Watch list by the Cleantech Group, placing us among a global cohort of standout startups chosen by leading industry experts.
Team Growth: This quarter, we welcomed another exceptional talent to Spark: Jacek Osinski, who will lead the development of our process simulation architecture. His expertise will play a crucial role in advancing our modeling capabilities and optimizing future plant designs
Team offsite: As our team grows, alignment and collaboration remain key. We dedicated two days to strategic planning and team-building in the beautiful Spreewald reserve—an opportunity to strengthen connections and focus on our shared mission.
