I’ve been looking for a coffee table for my new flat in Barcelona, which has naturally turned into a much deeper rabbit hole than anticipated. Rather than finding the table, I’ve ended up with a growing folder of pieces I love—vintage, contemporary and a few that are probably destined to remain firmly on the wish list.
The common denominator seems to be material. I keep coming back to tables where the surface is doing something interesting: thick cast glass, leaded glass, ceramic tiles, stone and unexpected inlays. I want something relatively simple in form, but with enough character that it feels more like an object than just a place to put a drink.
