real babies, knitted bunnies, and the will to fly

The world is hard and dark and harsh. It’s also full and light and wonderful.

Both are true.

Leaders are corrupt. Babies are born. And here we are just in the middle of all the darkness and the joy.

Some days the weight of it feels heavy on me, but then my good friend has a baby, and gosh aren’t women amazing? And gosh isn’t life a mystery?

I want to be in awe of this world.

But if I want to be in awe, then I need to see. And if I need to see then I need to pay attention. And if I need to pay attention, then I need to throw my phone into the nearest data center and hope they both explode. That’s the next logical step, right?

Anyway, I’m just going to keeping casting on because that feels like a vote for hope. Will you join me?

Let’s dive into the joy. Here we go…

✿ Rowan keeps saying that she wants to fly. Not like in a plane, or by any other achievable human means. Girl wants wings. So, Rion brought home his climbing equipment and did his best to make her dreams come true. (Also, I hope you’re clocking the fuzzy hair tie that adorned her ankle.)

✿ Finley is now officially a kid. Yes, she probably qualified as a kid before this as she is 7, but this past week she caught her first frog (don’t worry she was gentle and put it back). And I might be wrong here, but isn’t that the official start to childhood?

✿ The weather was so hot for a few days that I was tempted to hide in my house and become Gollum. I resisted… barely. So, when spring decided to be amicable again, I took my knitting outside and cast on my next design (what I am sure will become my favorite sweater).

✿ One of my favorite people just had her fourth baby. (This is where we all applaud her.) So I finished this wee little bun for her wee little babe, and I just wish I could bring it to her in person! Pattern is bunne the bunny!
