Welcome to Slow Brew Sunday, the newsletter that helps you start your week with a clear mind and full cup. 🍵 From intentional shifts and gentle productivity tips to personal stories and encouragement, I hope our cozy corner of the internet gives you what you need to ease into your week.

Hiya friends! If you’re reading this, we are currently relaxing from a double celebration yesterday — our little goodbye party and Keira’s 2nd birthday, rolled into one.

It was so much fun. Very low key this time… nowhere near the effort that was her first birthday (FTM, herculean energy), but we still decorated cutely.

Our house is currently in limbo with moving boxes we shoved into one room, since we move out in a few weeks. But, the point of this gathering was to get all our local friends together before the move. (We’ll still be in Austin for a while though — our actual new home in Dallas isn’t even close to ready, see update here.)

When my friend Sam asked if I needed any help with the party, my first reflex used to be, “no, just bring yourselves!”

But this time I said… “Yes, actually.” 😆 Easiest yes I’ve made this week!

I asked if I could pay her to make her delicious gluten-free cupcakes, but she refused payment and then showed up with 48 mini cupcakes like an absolute angel.

I’m so glad this time I accepted help. Amongst packing, selling our belongings, migrating things to my mom’s house, and work deadlines, I did not think about a single party detail until FIVE days before. Woops.

So I’ll ask you what I had to ask myself: where can you accept a little help right now? Who could you lean on? What’s one super easy yes you could give to yourself this week?

Cheers & in a cupcake coma x

I can accept help.

Say yes to one offer of help you'd normally wave off. Or go a step further and actually ask for some. Notice how it feels to let someone show up for you.

  1. 🍃 Following — I love following Dr. Felice Chan on Substack (and Instagram)! She’s a wealth of knowledge when it comes to traditional Chinese medicine, and I’m trying to learn more myself. Go follow!

  2. 📚 Listening — Wrapped up Daughter of the Moon Goddess (enjoyed!), and starting the second (audio)book in the duology called Heart of the Sun Warrior

  3. 👗 In my cart — Toddler dresses from Mini Boden! I always look at their selection at Nordstrom. Why is it so much more fun shopping for Keira than myself? lol This is the dress I bought for Keira to wear to her party. It’s a worthwhile investment since she only wants to wear dresses everyday.

  4. 🌱 Trusting the process — Are you in the season between putting in the work and seeing the results? Amennn, sister. This Is Always How It Feels Right Before It Gets Good nailed it. A takeaway that really stuck with me: sometimes feeling restless, discouraged, or even tempted to quit isn't a sign that it's not working... instead it can be exactly how things feel right before they start to really click. A great reminder to keep watering the same patch of grass!! We’ve got this.

… and speaking of that invisible season between putting in the work and seeing the results, here’s an update on the new house 😅
