I’m so hooked on this series!! Finally out of my reading slump!

Hey Friends,

We are gearing up to head to Dallas — our first time back since we left post-demo, post-discovering horrible things I can’t talk about yet, post-feeling completely traumatized by the renovation process.

This week, we are getting drywall put back up. Attempting to get the house back to square zero before we move forward with actually renovating.

My nervous system has known no peace for the last few months with all of this mess (once I am able to show you photos you’ll see why 😅)… but despite all of this, the one silver lining is that we truly truly love our new location.

I’ve been counting down the days until we leave. Is it a little silly to be THIS excited to go visit a house that’s currently just partial drywall and dust? Maybe. But it’s not really about the house — we just can’t wait to be back in that part of town. (Staying with my Uncle who’s conveniently close by)

When everything else feels like a mess, sometimes you just need one thing you can hold on to. And for us, that’s the location. We freaking nailed the location. We’re yearning for it, we miss it, we keep gushing about it — constantly going “ugh I cannot WAIT to be there.” Despite every thing that has gone oh-so-terribly wrong, this is the part that at least we can look forward to.

We might also plant a few flowers in the front, just to feel like we’ve done SOMETHING lively to this house of ours besides operate on it.

So tell me — if things have felt like a heckuva lot lately, what’s the one thing you can keep holding on to?

Psst… I yap a lot, so if this email gets truncated in Gmail, click “view in browser” to read the entire post.

There’s always one bright spot, even when the rest is a mess.

When life feels like a lot, find your one thing — the one piece of the puzzle, the one tiny light at the end of the tunnel that bring you joy. Hold on to it until you make it to the other side.

  1. ✏️ Food for thought — happy to be in good company with you all here!

  2. 📚 On My Nightstand — Okay, Bridge Kingdom!! 5/5 for me! I’m onto the second book The Traitor Queen already. I have officially exited my reading slump!

  3. An Offline Summer — Very aligned with my own "Unplugged-ish" efforts as of lately, this article is a great reminder that the things we want more of (meaningful conversations, laughs with friends, good books, creativity, time outdoors) usually spending less time glued to our phones.

  4. ✔️ Making habits stick — This simple comic breaks down what it actually takes to build a habit: motivation, the actual ability to do it, and a cue to get started. When those 3 things come together, habits are much more likely to stick.
