Welcome to Slow Brew Sunday, the newsletter that helps you start your week with a clear mind and full cup. 🍵 From intentional shifts and gentle productivity tips to personal stories and encouragement, I hope our cozy corner of the internet gives you what you need to ease into your week.

Ello ello, friends!

We are officially entering a big transitionary chapter of this whole house renovation / moving saga. We just moved to my parent’s house where we will be until our house starts and finishes renovations. The rest of our furniture and belongings are getting packed up as we speak (er, read) and will be dropped off at our storage unit in Dallas until further notice.

I’ve had to wait to share more details about what went terribly wrong shortly after we purchased our multi-generational home. But, I think I’m getting to a point where I can finally speak about it. Because I want to also help anyone out there who may be purchasing/renovating an older home (or any home really)… red flags and things to look out for. If I can save anyone from this traumatic situation we found ourselves in, I am sooo happy to be of service. Tentatively… stay tuned.

I wasn’t feeling emotional about leaving our current home until I was standing in the kitchen doing dishes for the last time, and I began tearing up. I am so ready to move, but this isn’t the move. It’s just the temporary one. I feel a bit sad to be in this limbo. It’s not the sweet goodbye, knowing our new house is ready and waiting for us with open arms… it’s more like a hurry-get-out-move-your-things-somewhere-else goodbye. It sounds silly, but I felt sad choosing which books of Keira’s to keep with us, and which to pack away for six(?) months… I felt sad parting with books we loved, knowing we can’t bring it all with us. It’s just decisions like that. Not having our bed, our desk, our belongings… just that feeling of missing what’s ours.

But, what I AM really happy about is that things are finally starting to move again. We have one last bump to smooth out before we are truly out of the woods, but it seems to be progressing.

I also love change. And new adventures. So while I’m sure the exhilarating newness will wear off and it may soon feel cramped, and my mom and I will surely butt heads (loveyouiknowyou’rereadingthislolol), I still enjoy this shift overall. I’m excited for Keira to wake up every morning and see her Halmoni, since the first thing she says when she wakes is, “Ha-muh-nah, miss it!”

My mom and I are also looking forward to being able to share things like goji berries and tofu. The full package is too large for just us, and now we can share! It’s a hundred little things that I am looking forward to with multi-generational living, being closer to my brother (once we move to Dallas), and being in company with my parents.

Current setup at my parents’ (that I’m sharing with Andrew). Brought my bookcase — easy art, and it makes any space feel more like home. Plants behind me (not pictured), my disco ball for when the sun hits just right, and my YouTube plaque to remind myself I’m still a creative baddie, hehe. Still in the process of moving over keyboard and mouse.

Can’t wait to see my book on that shelf!!! Actually, I get to reveal the cover art VERY soon!

Until next weeek x

It’s worthwhile to make even a temporary space feel like you.

If you find yourself in a season of transition, why not get a little comfy cozy? Bring the houseplant, stack of books, a memento you’re proud of… even if it’s 6 days or 6 months, it’s worth the extra effort.

  1. 💌 If your inbox could use a little more joy — this small habit could make your mornings feel lighter! I’ve been loving The Daily Good newsletter for yeeears! It’s an intentional daily newsletter that’s full of the kind of things we could all use more of: thoughtful essays, nourishing recipes, calming playlists, and more good stuff to kickstart your day with. It’s curated for women, by women, and I personally love their sustainability and healthy home recs.

  2. Currently loving — These Purity Coffee sachets for recent long car rides to Dallas or even those quick on-the-go mornings! Basically you steep the coffee like a tea bag. They use super high quality beans and it tastes delicious.

  3. If it comes let it, if it goes let it…
