What is destiny? Is it different from fate? Doesn’t it sound so much better to say “go out and live your destiny” versus “go out and live your fate.” Except figuring out your destiny is almost the same as figuring out your purpose, which is a conundrum in itself.

The other day I finally figured out what my purpose is and yet, it still hasn’t helped me to figure out my destiny … yet. You’re probably wondering what my purpose is? Originally I thought it was to make others feel good and although I was sorta right, I was also wrong. Why?

My actual purpose is to make myself feel good and the result of that is the by product happens to make others feel good as well. You’re sputtering but that’s selfish. You’re damn right it is. There’s a reason there is a saying that you need to fill your own cup before you can pour into others.

Interestingly enough, how many people deny themselves because they think it will make them feel good? There’s sacrifice and there’s martyrdom. There’s no need to live the life of a martyr. Living as a martyr only makes yourself look good but does living as a martyr help you to truly live your life purpose?

Maybe if you’re a monk and devoted yourself to a life of sacrifice. For the grand majority of the population, we haven’t given ourselves in devotion as a monk, priest, nun or other initiate. So what good does it do to live a life like that? You trying to buy your way into heaven?

So now what? Maybe you borrow a page from my book and work on making yourself happy so you can share your happiness with others. After all, have you ever met a Karen or Kevin that you aspired to be just like? If so, idk what to tell you. All I can tell you is it took me a really long time to figure out what my purpose is and living it out every day is surprisingly not as easy as you think it would be.

So what do I do? Live my life one breath, one moment, one minute, one hour, one day, one week, one month, a season, a year, a decade, a quarter century and when I get to a half century, I’ll add that too. Until then, see you next time. 🙂

Ps I love you in case no one told you today
