I get that everyone on Substack is working on growing, notice I said working rather than trying. Trying is if you think, “Gee, I wish my Substack would grow,” and you don’t do the things that could potentially cause your Substack to grow such as Notes and engaging in the community. That being said, how many times have you seen the note: Dear Substack, please connect me with (insert topic here)… It seems like such a copy paste job and hey, maybe it works for them however all I see is a bunch of people commenting.

I don’t know, maybe I just wish it could be more organic. Idk if it works that way and writing notes seems contrived (or at least it does to me) since it just seems like everyone is copy pasting instead of being original.

We’re writers, we’re original. I know I’m original and have a unique writing style. I don’t have an outline. I literally come up with a title, start writing, eventually get to a conclusion and then finish it off with See you next time :) ps i love you in case no one told you today. That’s my formula.

Is it successful? That depends on who’s looking. The people who have thousands of subscribers and are making an income from Substack might say I’m not successful. Do you know what success is? Putting the words on the screen. That’s step #1. Maybe you can grow your community by posting hundreds of notes and rarely having an actual written article. Maybe that works for you.

I am at over 100 articles on here and working on getting back to writing on a regular basis on here. Why? I read an article the other day that there are 2 types of people who are successful at healing. Those who write every day for at least 20 minutes and those that don’t because something about writing helps you to process your day. I also verbally process my day every night on my podcast (Ayla and Potato3s: a nightly message from your best friend) however verbally processing and writing processing are not the same and so here I am, back to writing on Substack.

I used to have a blog as well years ago and have over 300 articles that I’m going to use someday, just not sure where. When I do decide to post those somewhere, I’ll post a reflection on where I am today versus back then. Those articles are between 5 and 6 years ago and so it will be interesting to see how much I have grown. Yes, I will be copy pasting however it will be my words PLUS my current reflections on those thoughts and that’s just fine and dandy by me. See you next time. :)

ps i love you in case no one told you today
