Hey everyone,
I’ve recorded a special Q&A video to accompany Episode 22 of The Vault. If you’ve ever struggled with the beautiful but sometimes tricky technique of granulation, I explain the most common cause why the silver balls fall off, and show you how to avoid it.
I explain how to choose patterns for your ring band, what paste to use to attach the silver balls, and give you a brilliant hack to use if you’ve already torch fired your granulation ring—and a couple of balls drop off during polishing!
Granulation is one of my favourite jewellery techniques, but it’s also one that many makers find frustrating at first. Getting those tiny silver balls to stay in place during construction, look balanced—and remain attached after torch firing—can be a real challenge. The good news is that I’m here to help you when things don’t go to plan.
The Vault is continually growing, with a brand-new episode added every month. Episode 23 arrives this August, bringing another technique, exclusively for members. It’s another fabulous ring tutorial, combining my love of moulds and textures in one extraordinary silver metal clay ring band.
