2023, i had a lot of unexpected time on my hand, and decided to focus on watching other movies than those related to comics—no bad blood, my enthusiasm had b...
Not bad, yet not as good as some people make it. The Zendaya gets not enough to do, even though the drama revolves around her, and it's too long. It's good that it's end when it does; it takes its viewers seriously. Possible spoiler: My brain played the "synchronized expressive dance" sequence from The OA , when the question "Why didn't you do it?" was asked. |
Ricky Backer's a foster child in the care of Bella and Hector. After Bella dies due to a stroke, Ricky is to be relocated; which he doesn't want to, Hector though thinks it's for the better. Ricky fails with faking his death and instead hides in the bush. Hector follows him and thinks go pear-shaped in a hilarious manner. Turning ten years old, this might be Taika Waititi's best movie; showing…
A raw take on the legend of Robin Hood. It begins as Frank Miller's Hood Returns, and through that, takes him out of that environment, and gives him a chance. I didn't like the ending; i understand it, i just can't process it. The whole thing looks beautiful, changes aspect ratio once, which i see people being bothered by. My biggest worry was Hugh Jackman, which basically plays Wolverine in a…
No idea why this movie performed the way it did other than that it was released alongside things that provided an alternative to another movie based on a comic. It's perfectly serviceable, a not so good adaption of the comic it is based on, a good superhero movie, a solid movie in general–if a bit to evenly lit, which troubles most effects heavy movie these days; and instead of Lobo i'd rather…
While the first movie feels like a pre-viz version of the actual thing when watched in 2026, this one has something about it i couldn't put my finger on at first. Then we see a glimpse of Jonny Quest 1 and i realized: It feels like Thunderbirds 2 . The second movie picks up right were we left the first one, and it also does shares the biggest flaw of it's predecessor with asking a question and not…
Backrooms is a tough cookie. It's biggest strength, is it's cast. While Kane Parson's series of Backroom »short films« is populated mostly with people clad in protection gear, or being shown via their POV, here we need to see people not only standing in awe before the vast landscape of madness around them, we must see the baggage they bring with them. And all of that would have been fine: endless,…
I liked this one. Silent, brooding, weird central premise, lots of space to interpret. That one central monologue is too long, yet didn't manage to take me completely out of the movie. Honestly, i can't objetively say if it is a good or bad movie, because this movie shows me a version of the "life" i'd like to have, just witnessing the world without having an effect on it and vice versa. |
Still enjoyed the idea behind the movie, while the movie itself felt oddly paced and … as we witness today, the celebration of the extraordinary isn't a very good idea, as well as keeping everyone on a certain level. I dunno. I was bummed out by the animation. It's been at least 15 years since i last saw this movie, and back then, i was floored by how far Pixar pushed their craft. Today, it looks…
It's a surprisingly good movie, made with a lot of love for the medium and its history, featuring one of media's mascots i both love and loathe at the same time. There is one thing though, one story beat, that nearly ruins it: A woman seemingly doesn't care about her rights anymore, when she gets the right antenna. |
