ShowMe Times Continues to Grow While Keeping Community at the Heart of Local News

Happy 1st Anniversary ShowMe Times Print Edition

For the past 16 years, The ShowMe Times has grown and evolved alongside the communities it serves, but one thing has never changed — its commitment to sharing the positive stories of Stoddard County and the people who call it home.

What began as an online-only news website and Facebook page has transformed into something much larger. Through the years, The ShowMe Times has become a familiar source for local news, school activities, sports, community events, celebrations and the everyday accomplishments that deserve recognition.

In 2025, another exciting chapter began when The ShowMe Times expanded into print.

The decision came after hearing from many readers, particularly members of the older generation, who wanted the opportunity to hold their local news in their hands. Some did not use Facebook or social media, while others simply missed the tradition of sitting down with a newspaper and reading about the people and events happening close to home.

Today, the print edition of The ShowMe Times continues alongside the historic Puxico Weekly Press, which will soon begin its sixth year under the ownership of Dee Loflin.

For subscribers, that means receiving the best of both publications together.

But purchasing a local newspaper subscription represents much more than receiving a newspaper.

It helps support the countless hours spent covering the people of Stoddard County.

From football fields and basketball courts to academic awards, school programs, graduations, community celebrations and special achievements, Miss Dee spends countless hours documenting the moments families want to remember.

Those photographs and stories may feature your children or grandchildren today — and sometimes your nieces, nephews or even great-grandchildren.

Local journalism preserves those moments.

Years from now, a photograph clipped from the newspaper, an article saved in a scrapbook or a story shared online may become part of a family’s history.

The ShowMe Times remains committed to being an all-positive local news source, highlighting the good happening throughout Stoddard County while keeping residents informed about events, activities and opportunities happening across the area.

Every day, readers can find updates on Facebook showcasing the people, schools, businesses, organizations, churches, veterans, first responders and volunteers who continually make Stoddard County special.

And although The ShowMe Times is primarily the work of one person, Miss Dee is grateful for the small group of volunteers who step in throughout the year, particularly during football and basketball season, helping provide LIVE coverage so families and fans can follow their teams even when they cannot be there in person.

Behind every photograph, article, graphic, score update and Facebook post are hours spent traveling, taking photographs, gathering information, writing stories, editing and publishing.

That work is made possible because of the businesses, organizations and readers who continue to believe that local news matters.
