I'm just a neurodivergent princess

My brain, like my 15-inch Apple MacBook Air (I’m very proud I was able to buy her in cash upfront), always has 59 tabs open at all times.

And I didn’t just make that number up. I counted them all out right now. I use Chrome, not Safari. Judging those who do.

And if you’re like “Shiri, how can you possibly work like that?” I can ask you the same. They all feel like a weighted blanket. Like, if I close them, how will I remember all the things I was planning to come back to at some unspecified point in the future? Exactly.

Anyway, the tabs in my actual brain are arguably worse. I keep seeing clips online of the Olympian who won gold during the wintertime, Eileen Gu, talk about neuroplasticity and how she can control her thoughts to achieve a certain outcome. What a superpower.

Mine is to think about the most random stuff ever and harp on it for months straight. I’m not joking. I’m the queen of hyperfixation. I have all these half-baked theories. Hundreds of random things written down in journals and in my notes app.

None of them warrant their own essay, so consider this me closing a few tabs.

  1. “Oblivion is freedom.” - Quote I’ve been thinking about a lot after Charli XCX released “No One Lasts Forever” on her new rock-inspired album. I crave freedom from the weight of being so aware. It’s exhausting. But I love that song. Give it a listen.

  2. If a friendship ends when one person brings up an issue and they can’t make it through the conflict, I don’t think the friendship was ever that deep to begin with.

  3. On the same note, most people don’t know how to repair relationships. We mostly repress or avoid. Freeze or flight, baby. Fight!!! Jk.

  4. There’s something depressing about summer. The heat is sometimes just too much. And you have to come to terms with the fact that the year is mostly over.

  5. Can that much really change in a year? Or maybe there’s just a lot of pressure we put on ourselves to do so. To see some physical, visible difference 12 months later. A clear before-and-after shot. Weight Watchers style, but now everyone in LA is on Ozempic and peptides, so the biggest loser is who…?

  6. The only way to differentiate yourself today is to share your unique POV. Even if others disagree or dislike it. Prepare to get perceived, or no one will really know what you’re about. What’s your defining factor? Am I making you feel like a product now? Great, you’re on the right track. This is corporate America, babes.

  7. We’re all sick of AI slop. We’re all sick of everyone looking the same with Botox and filler. We’re all spending way too much time on Instagram seeking connection it will never truly bring us. Or maybe that’s just me for all three.

  8. Everything takes years. You want my job? Well, it took a decade to get to this point, honey. And I don’t mean to talk down to you. I just don’t think most people are really up for it.

  9. Nostalgia is one of the most powerful emotions. It's right up there with love and sadness.

  10. I’m sick of all the trad wife content on the web, but I’m equally sick of the girlboss Emma Grede movement. Where is the in-between? Why does the internet make us feel like we need to choose sides? It’s all fake.

  11. It’s 8/11, so I’ll stop here. I really love and hate the internet.

Thanks for letting me share this :) Maybe I’ll do it again sometime soon.

It really depends on how much validation and feedback you all give me hehehe.
