Shenae Grimes-Beech · Life's a Beech w/ Shenae Grimes-Beech

This song is approximately one thousand years old.

And yet...

It somehow hits just as hard blasting through your car speakers at 8:00 a.m. after school drop-off as it did when you were hopelessly pining after the emotionally unavailable hot douchebag who ghosted you in the mid-2000s.

Some songs just never lose their ability to transport you.

Fun fact: I actually walked down the aisle to José González’s cover of “Heartbeats.” No traditional daaa, dum, da, dum for me.

Shocking, I know.

The original by The Knife and José González’s stripped-back cover somehow feel like two completely different songs, and I refuse to choose a favorite. One belongs on a late-night dance floor. The other belongs soundtracking one of the biggest moments of my life.

Both are perfect.

I’m not a “watch every reality show” kind of gal. In fact, I’m actually pretty selective.

But my love for Love Island UK? Completely unmatched. Much to my husband’s dismay

Love Island UK is the television equivalent of a sweet treat.

There’s just something about watching a bunch of impossibly attractive twenty-somethings make catastrophically bad romantic decisions in the Spanish sun that scratches a very specific itch.

By the time the kids are in bed and I’ve finished juggling work, motherhood, emails, laundry, and whatever fresh chaos the day decided to throw at me, my brain is done.

I don’t want to think. I don’t want to solve anything. I don’t want to watch something that’s going to emotionally devastate me for the next week.

I just want to watch beautiful people repeatedly announce they’ve “got a text!” while making wildly questionable life choices.

Completely unnecessary. Entirely indulgent.

And, at this stage of my life, basically essential. No notes.

I’ve tried a lot of beauty brands over the years. Occupational hazard, I suppose.

So trust me when I say I don’t get easily impressed anymore. Products have to earn a permanent spot in my routine, and very few actually do.

SWEED Beauty’s Eyelash Growth Serum absolutely has.

After a summer of travel, late nights, inconsistent skincare, and generally treating my skincare routine like more of a suggestion than a commitment, my lashes were looking... let’s just say they have seen better days.

Sweed Beauty’s Pro Eyelash Serum and Cloud Mascara have Earned their spot in my rotation

This has been my rehabilitation plan.

The formula is clean, vegan, and prostaglandin-free, and with consistent use it’s designed to help lashes (and brows!) appear longer, fuller, and darker in about four to six weeks.

More importantly? It actually made me excited to be consistent again.

Because nothing motivates me quite like catching myself in the mirror and thinking, Okay... we’re so back.

My lashes certainly seem to agree. (If you’re looking for a great mascara, I highly recommend checking out Sweed Beauty’s Cloud Mascara as well!)

At this point, I think it’s safe to call Freida McFadden one of my favorite authors.

I’ve read at least five of her books this year alone, and every single time I convince myself I’ve figured out the twist...

Every single time I’m wrong.

Dear Debbie was no exception.

McFadden is brilliant at leading you confidently in one direction before completely blindsiding you in the final chapters with something you genuinely didn’t see coming. Not just for the sake of shock, either. The payoff always feels earned.

And maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but one of my favorite things about her books is that they actually end.

10/10. Already looking forward to the next Freida McFadden book. 🖤

No lingering question marks. No “interpret it however you want.”

No closing the book only to immediately Google, Wait... what?

Just a proper ending. A real bookend.

I know open endings often get framed as more artistic or thought-provoking, but sometimes... I think they’re just evidence that the writer didn’t quite know how to land the plane (sorry not sorry).

Freida, on the other hand, absolutely sticks the landing every time.

Whether it’s a book you love, a song that you can’t get out of your head or the tv show that keeps you sane, I want to know what you’re f*cking loving lately!

Tell me in the comments: what's currently refusing to leave your brain? I need new obsessions, so the comments are officially open for recommendations

Until next time. 🖤

xx, Shenae
