Stop Trying to Figure Out Your Paid Tier Alone

Shannon Bindler · The Flow

A new coaching circle for Substackers who are ready to launch or elevate their paid tier and want to do it inside a real community. Strategy, psychology, and big magic. Come figure it out together.

I’ve been on Substack for just about a year.

I started with no real plan, turned on paid in late January, and have been genuinely surprised that over 30 people came along for the ride before I had any of it figured out. I’ve tried a few formats. Some worked, others really didn’t.

Then three notes and a post went viral in the past month, and something shifted. A tap on the shoulder. A cosmic wink, if you’re into that kind of thing.

I am.

So here’s what I’ve been sitting with: I’ve been trying to figure out my paid tier in private, when the whole point of this place is that we do things together.

That felt like useful information.

There’s plenty of Substack growth advice out there. Most of it is fine. Some of it is even good. But a lot of it has a hustle energy that leaves little room for how some of us actually work. Slower, more intuitive, a little more soul than strategy.

This is for that kind of writer.

I’m not a growth guru. I said it in the Unwritten Rules of Substack piece, and I’ll keep saying it.

What I am is a coach with 20 years of experience helping people create, launch, and scale things that matter to them. A few weeks ago, I turned on the television and realized I was watching a hit series that a client brought to our group program seventeen years ago. She’s an A-list director now. I’m not saying our coaching circle made that happen. I’m also not not saying it.

She did the work; we just made it harder for her to talk herself out of it.

I’ve always participated alongside my groups. It’s just who I am. And it’s been one of the most powerful things in my own business life.

So when I found myself wondering how to build something people here would be excited to pay for, the answer arrived the way good answers usually do.

It was obvious.

We should do it together.

Writing is a solo sport. What comes next doesn’t have to be.

There’s real science behind this. Being witnessed by a group with shared intention changes what the brain believes is possible. We attempt more, quit less. Accountability isn’t just motivational; it’s neurological.

We’ll cover strategy. And we’ll cover the part nobody talks about — the psychological patterns that keep most of us from building the thing we actually want to build.

This is for you if you’ve been thinking about launching a paid tier and haven’t pulled the trigger. If you have one and it’s not quite working yet. If you’re waiting to feel ready and starting to suspect that day isn’t coming. And if you’re building something else entirely: a program, a workshop, a product, or something you haven’t quite named yet. The room works for that, too.

Round One runs for twelve weeks. Our goal is simple: help you launch a paid tier that feels aligned and genuinely yours. The room doesn’t close after that. It just gets bigger.

  • Two monthly coaching reads on taking the leap into paid: a little strategy, some vision, and genuine big magic

  • A monthly group Zoom where we meet, hear about each other’s work, and support one another. Can’t make it live? Every call is recorded. You come in thinking about your own paid tier. Somewhere in the first call, you start rooting for everyone else’s, too.

  • A private community chat just for Flow Room members, so the room exists between Zooms

  • Paid tier spotlights with guest Substackers sharing what’s working for them

  • Occasional guest experts on growth, offers, and paid memberships

  • For Founding Members: one 45-minute strategy call with me, one-on-one

At the end of twelve weeks, we will put it out into the world. We restack, we cheer, we show up for each other the way this platform was always meant to work.

We won’t be perfect. We’ll make mistakes. That’s the whole idea.

Round One opens mid-July. The first people in get the best rate: $50 a year or $5 a month — before it moves to $80 and $10.

The early rate closes July 19. First groups are different. If you’ve ever been in one, you know exactly what I mean.

The leap is the hardest part. Not the work after — the decision to begin.

Most people don’t take it alone. They take it when someone they trust says, “I’m going, too.”

I’m going too.

Kindest,

Shannon
