What actually gets someone to upgrade to a paid subscription? Three questions to run your own offer through before we meet in our Zoom Group on Aug 12th. And no, it doesn’t need to be perfect yet.

Week One, we turned paid on, or committed to doing it. If you caught our first piece, you know that what happens in your head right after you take the leap. A few of you are new here, and don’t worry. Just check out our first post; there’s still plenty of time to catch up.

Most paid-tier pitches are written for readers who are already into your work.

The upgrade pitch sounds like: If you love what I write here, consider going paid. That works for readers who already felt the pull and just needed a little nudge. For everyone else, it lands as a compliment, and stays exactly there.

Subscribing to people is easy. You find a voice you vibe with, subscribe, and read when you have time. It costs nothing, but it also doesn’t inspire anyone to pull out their credit card. Thousands of people subscribe to writers they enjoy for years without ever upgrading.

Because upgrading requires something much more specific.
