When my daughter-in-love and my son were expecting their first child, I ended up creating a childbirth class just for them. They were curious about free birth, and had mixed feelings about the birthing options that were available in their area. They were seeing a midwife, and deciding between home birth and a birth center.
On the surface, these seem like very similar options…but it’s not that simple.
Every week, after my daughter-in-love’s prenatal or childbirth class - she and my son would call me, full of questions, and feeling disillusioned and confused at times, too, and I’m so glad they wanted to hear my perspective…

This childbirth class is ideal if you’re interested in exploring birth choices from a truly holistic view, learning the limitations of midwifery and hospital birth, and cultivating discernment around medicalization. It contains an overview of the cascade of interventions, pain meds, induction, and surgical birth, too - because it’s important to be “street smart” and not naïve to what else birth can be like…
