Sean M Clarke · The Mindful Life

mindfulness poem
Time flies, what are you waiting for?

What are you waiting for, the storms above to pass? Or warmer summer evenings or maybe greener grass?

What are you searching for? A hand to guide you through? Or smiles from faces, old and stern, yet never look at you?

What are you hoping for? A new chapter on a different page? Something fresher, something newer, better than today's?

What are you yearning for? A voice to say, “Yes, go!” That may never come, and you may never know.

What are you hoping for my friend, directions or a sign? What's wrong with now, today, right here? I promise you will be fine.

Dear friend,

When I think about the things holding me back from the person I want to be, it’s obvious - it’s always been me.

How much of our lives do we wait for the right time, the right circumstances, before we jump on the boat or tell that person we love them?

We think that life is long because so far it has been.

But “now” is all we have. Tomorrow isn’t promised, and the more we put things off, the less likely we are to do them. Life will change whether we choose it or not. But we have the opportunity to grab life by the horns right now and create our own futures.

Yes, it can be scary, but sometimes, just sometimes, we thank ourselves we did.

So if you needed something to give you permission to take the first step, I hope this poem gives you just that.

Until next time, my friend.
