By ancient glacier you were born to us, From still-blue calm and deep serenity, A thousand years with patient source and thus, A boy begins his journey to the sea, Where on that future day he shall proclaim A life well-lived and grace well-gived to thee, And they, who saw repute in his good name Shall praise the man who fed a fruitful tree, And ‘long the way he’ll wind and well convey A power led by stillness in the lee, Where strength becomes intuitive ballet To entertain the vines of thy esprit, To Rhone, thy gentle presence is thy gift, And through you flow the spirits you uplift.
