What words, what sentiment shall I impart,
To thee I truly love and hold so dear,
When night doth fall and you and I must part,
And longer no shall thee and I be near?
What comfort shall I find in absence be,
While I am here and ye are there afar,
Where scent nor touch nor chance upon shall see,
The wonder of thy charismatic star?
Alas, my heart, my longing, and my love,
Shall bear the cross of wanting ye, my sweet,
As frozen hand shall miss elusive glove,
And seek that heat till once again they meet,
I bid thee night, though hopefully I pray,
The sight of ye shall rise with break of day.
