Now we work our way around each other,
We navigate these falsities and truth,
Allow life’s weight to drown and smother
Asseverations of our simple youth,
What ‘came of dreams and dancing window scenes?
That frame contained the colors of our flame!
The joy and thrill of roller coaster screams
Have mellowed so to monochrome and tame,
So now I’ll rise, and you’ll pretend to sleep,
And ‘morrow when that morning light shines through,
You will try again, and I will gently weep,
O’er faded frames; rekindled dreams anew,
Of flowing hair; of you and me complete,
Within this love less bitter and more sweet.
