Scene 7 Happy Update, July 23

Ciao everybody!

I hope you are enjoying your summer, wherever you are. I haven’t been on SubStack lately, but behind the scenes, I have been working very hard.

Long Story Short - The Book and the Class

In about five weeks, my entertainment law class will start at two law schools. I’ve been working on improving the syllabus, incorporating more AI into the lesson plan, and adding one more client representation workshop into the semester. Very hyped.

The twist this semester is that my entertainment law textbook is almost done.

So, this semester, my plan has become to force myself to get the book done.

And so far, so good. After nearly two years of different drafts, I finally got the chapter format correct!

Starting at the end of August, I plan to finalize and publish one chapter on Scene 7 every Tuesday, corresponding to that week’s law school reading assignment and distributed to my students on Wednesday and Friday. In theory, this will create an academic assembly line that results in my entire textbook being ready for prime time by December 1.

The chapters are longer than a typical Substack article, so I still have a few Substacky issues to figure out. Question 1 - Are the chapters too long for Substack?

Probably. Hmmmmm.

In any case, I have been writing every day, and in about five weeks, I am going to supercharge my law practice, I guess you could say… including teaching, publishing the book, launching a new website and client offerings, and the announcement of a strategic partnership with an entertainment law firm in Italy.

Scene 7 will be a major focus of all of it.

So, thank you to all of my subscribers who have been patiently waiting for new content. You will have a little bit longer to wait, but if you are interested in learning more about entertainment law and Hollywood, you are about to have a front-row seat. And, of course, I will get back to occasionally posting happy memories and/oor random nonsense once in a while as well. :)
