"Dad?"

"Yes son."

"When I grow up I want to be president."

"That's great son. I'm sure you can do it; they say anybody can if they really want to."

"Really? Anybody?"

"Yes, as long as they were born right here in the good ol' U. S. of A."

"Okay, so I just need to get all my friends to vote for me and I'm in, right?

"Well son, it's going to take a lot more than just your friends to get you elected. There will be other men trying to win too. It's going to cost you about four or five billion dollars at least, just to get you to the finals."

"Yikes! I'm going to need you to increase my allowence. So when I save up that much, then I'm in?"

"I don't think saving up your allowence will cover it. You can always find a billionaire or two who will cover all your costs."

"Wow! I didn't think rich people were so nice."

"Sure they are, as long as you're nice to them when they need you to bypass a regulation or two for a project they need to finish."

"I guess I could do that. So then I'm President, right?"

"Ha ha ha, no son - you're just even with all the other guys who are in the Presidential Race. Now you'll need to convince the voters that you're the best choice to run the country."

"The voters? Who are the voters?"

"Every four years when we elect a new President, every citizen in the country over 19 years old gets just one vote for the man they trust the most."

"Really? Everyone?"

"Yes son. We all go down to the nearest voting booth with proof that we are white citizens at least 19 years old and then we can vote."

"White? Why white?"

"Well, non-white people get a vote too but it's a bit more complicated for them. They usually have to walk a few miles in snow or rain to finally get to the wrong location that they were given and when they finally arrive at the right place, they need to jump through flaming hoops while they are soaked with gasoline. But eventually some of them do get a vote."

"Dad?"

"Yes son."

"When I grow up I want to be an electrician."

"Good choice son."
