How is the AI user experience evolving?

The AI user experience is constantly evolving.

We started with the Graphical User Interface (GUI), where you tell the machine what to do and it does it.

Examples:
I click a button and it opens a web page.
I search and it filters results.

Then we moved to the AI interface, where you tell the AI an outcome you want it to achieve but not how to get there.

Examples:
I want an image of stars behind a mountain.
I want you to create an email template to sell to a CIO.

While this can be mind-blowing, the AI experience is restrictive.

Why?
Because you're talking to a black box, it's difficult to adjust the results to meet your need.

For example:
In Midjourney you can generate an image with AI. Then if you prompt it again with a slight change, it could give you a completely different image rather than adjusting the original.

This is because AI results are non-deterministic - it's not going to be the same answer every time (like you get on a GUI).

Without adding the necessary context, we lose trust in the results.

This "black box" experience makes it harder to adopt AI into our workflows today.

👉 We believe the future AI experience is *hybrid*.

You tell the AI the outcome you want to achieve, then you can adjust the specific steps along the way.

We're already seeing this for image editing e.g. Runway - you can highlight specific parts of an image and adjust prompts like "add stars behind the mountain" or "make the stars bigger."

That's why at Sauce AI, we're building a hybrid AI experience for customer insights.

We believe AI should get you 95%+ of the way, giving you highly accurate and actionable results, saving you countless hours...

...and then give you the tools to adjust, re-cluster and traverse layers of granularity in real-time. Making the results perfectly fit your needs.

Our team have been running a ton of experiments in the background as we've been building Sauce AI and the results have been mind-blowing. We're shipping these AI experience improvements into our product every day!

What's your experience with AI tools at work? How could they improve?
