Sexual Violence Prevention Month (SVPM) has come to a close. As our team reflects on the month, one emotion stands out among the rest: gratitude. Thank you, Saskatchewan, for a truly momentous 31 days.
We have special appreciation for our sponsors: Platinum Sponsor, SIGA, and our Gold Sponsors, Service Hospitality, the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses, SGI Canada, and Sleek Signs. With you, our vision came to life!
This month:
60 businesses, politicians, organizations and community partners across the province took action by posing with the SVPM Lotus,
1000 people received an SVPM postcard with information educating them on the importance of addressing addictions and mental health hand-in-hand with sexual violence,
400 SVPM buttons were distributed,
300 Lotus T-shirts were proudly worn,
4 educational webinars - which you can watch here- on workplace violence were delivered through our Enough Already Program (special shout out to the Law Foundation of Saskatchewan, our Enough Already program funder!),
Members, Funders, and stakeholders celebrated our collective efforts through an incredible wrap-up event,
And one webinar on the primary prevention of sexual violence launched our newest initiative: Eliminating Sexual Violence: The Essential Role of Primary Prevention in Saskatchewan
Sexual Violence Prevention is work that needs to be done across the province, year-round. In our Eliminating Sexual Violence: The Essential Role of Primary Prevention in Saskatchewan online learning module, learners will examine common myths, perpetration patterns, social conditions that increase sexual violence risk in Saskatchewan, and gain practical tools to prevent sexual violence before it occurs.
This module was made in partnership with Shift to Learn, our partner from Alberta, who graciously worked with us to bring the unique needs and context of Saskatchewan together with expert-created sexual violence primary prevention education.
In addition to the course, we have crafted a short video that informs viewers about the scope of sexual violence in Saskatchewan and gives four actionable steps for individuals to prevent sexual violence.
Thank you, the Public Health Agency of Canada, for funding our primary prevention work!
Let’s keep the momentum going. Take action by enrolling in our course and sharing our video on preventing sexual violence in Saskatchewan.
With Gratitude,
