Sarah Ward · Sex and Style

Welcome to Sex and Style, where we pick up where sex-ed left off. Written by Certified Sexologist Sarah Ward, this newsletter delivers weekly tips on embodied erotic reclamation, nervous system attunement, and the healing power of pleasure — straight to your inbox.

Starting Monday, I have a special treat: I’m hosting a 6-week Pleasure Reset on Sex and Style for paid subscribers — and the week one is free to everyone, so you can give it a taste before going all in.

If you’ve been paying attention, this summer has given us some clear reminders about the importance of peak pleasure:

  • July 31 was National Orgasm Day

  • August 8 was National Female Orgasm Day

What better time to take stock of how you’re relating to your pleasure?

For the next six weeks, a new video will be published each Monday on Sex and Style with a pleasurable theme to explore at your own pace. If you prefer to move faster, you can always do a practice each day, or double up and do two weeks at once.

There is no right or wrong way to do this.

You won’t be given a score or gold star afterwards. The reward will be the satisfaction that comes from the pleasure of meeting yourself at the edges.

You’re invited to join us live! The videos will always be up, but the opportunity to move through this live with real time support will happen over the coming six weeks.

  • Are you someone who is between relationships or in a sexless relationship where you aren’t able to explore erotically with another? This gives you an outlet for your sexual charge.

  • Are you someone who has never had an orgasm before and is ready to close the orgasm gap? This is for you. Just remember that female bodies often take a minimum of 45 minutes to get fully turned on, which is a pre-requirement for the ultimate state of pleasure, orgasm.

  • Are you someone who enjoys sex in your relationship/s or situatonship/s but would love to experience more? This is for you, too!

  • All in all, you don’t have to fit in one of these categories (although I know many who do.) Ultimately, this is for erotic humans who are looking to excavate their erotic connection. They want a clearer channel to the erotic muse.

  • This reset is available for all genders.

You are in the right place, lover.

You don’t have to be in a relationship to participate since you can explore your own self pleasure. This challenge can be done alone or with a partner — though I always recommend that you get familiar with your own body first.

Think of sex like a jam session. If you weren’t yet attuned to your own instrument, it may be tough to make music with someone else. Invest in your own pleasure first.

Pleasure is the point. There is zero expectation for you to have an orgasm. But if one happens in the process, then great!

Think of the challenge as a launching point, instead of a checklist to do perfectly.

The point of this is to meet your body where it is now.

I invite you to be patient with yourself through the process. You might have some big emotions come up.

  • There might be grief around not being able to enjoy intimacy with a lover

  • There may be anger or rage around ways that you’ve been mistreated in the past

  • There might be frustration with how your body is responding differently now, compared to when you were younger, or before perimenopause, or pre-surgery

All of that gets to be here.

My approach has Tantra deeply woven throughout — and Tantra makes space for the bigness of your emotions, your grief, your anger, and your ecstasy, and your joy.

Follow whatever rises in your being and let your body lead.

As always, I am not the expert on you and your body — you are. If at any point you need to pause or step away please take care of yourself. I trust your rhythms.

This was originally designed to be a daily orgasm reset. But it didn’t sit quite right with me.

Doing anything on a daily basis is a high ask. (Unless it’s sleeping / eating / pooping)

This is the time of year when school starts again
You may be on holidays
You may get your period
You’ll inevitably want a day off
And then all of a sudden, what was supposed to be a pleasure practice feels a lot like homework you’ve fallen behind on

Let’s not put pressure on our pleasure, lovers.

Instead, let’s extend this over the next six weeks. With one theme each week, you have the chance to try the invitation more than once, without the pressure of falling behind.

If you aren’t a paid subscriber yet, consider upgrading so you can participate in the 6-Week Orgasm Reset Challenge.

You’ll also receive:

My eBooks The Pleasure Manifesto (value $27) and The Beginner’s Guide to Sex Toys (value $27)
Unzipped — steamy, true stories straight from the bedroom
Deeper — my private podcast where the real conversations happen
The first 7 days of 28 Days of Pleasure (a $32 value) — daily audio practices to cultivate more sensation and pleasure in your body

For the rest of August, the annual rate is on sale for $88 instead of $111, so that’s just $8/month instead of the regular $11/mo.

This space has been years in the making. Your support keeps it alive — and keeps me creating work that moves people and helps support our collective sexual liberation.
