Sarah Kelly · Style, Made Simple. Life, Lived Well.

Welcome to the very first edition of The Wear List — and I’m so excited about this one.

If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know I love clothes. I love putting outfits together. I love finding a really great pair of jeans. And yes, I still get excited when I find that one piece that instantly makes everything else in my closet feel better.

But I don’t believe you need more clothes to have better style.

In fact, I believe the opposite.

Less — but better.

Fewer pieces you actually love wearing. More outfits from what you already own. Smarter purchases. And a closet where things actually work together.

That’s exactly why I created The Wear List.

Every month, I’m going to do some of the work for you — cutting through all the new arrivals, the trends, the “must-haves,” and the endless choices to show you the pieces, outfit formulas, and ideas I believe are actually worth wearing.

Not because something is new. Not because everyone else is buying it. Because it can earn its place in a real wardrobe.

And for our first edition, I knew exactly where I wanted to start.

And I’m guessing you are too.

We need clothes that can take us from school drop-off to a meeting, errands to lunch, the sidelines to dinner, church to whatever else the weekend throws at us.

I want to be comfortable. But I also want to feel pulled together. I want to look current — without feeling like I’m trying to dress 20 years younger.

And I definitely don’t want to stand in front of my closet every morning thinking: What am I going to wear?

So I handpicked a capsule — a tight, intentional edit — to build an elevated, mom-on-the-go fall wardrobe that makes that decision easier.

A great pair of denim. An elevated white tee. A stripe. Chocolate brown. Olive. Easy layers. A beautiful flat. A dress that can stand on its own or layer up as the temperatures drop.

Nothing complicated. Nothing precious. Just really good, wearable pieces that play well together.

And here’s the best part: I turned those pieces into 30 different outfits. Because I don’t just want to show you what to buy. I want to show you how to wear it.

I want to make outfit repeating cool again. Because when you have a formula that works? Repeat it.

Wear the jeans + white tee + jacket again. Next time, change the shoe. Swap the jacket for a cardigan. Trade the white tee for the stripe. Wear the same cardigan with the dress.

You don’t need to reinvent yourself every morning to have great style. That’s the beauty of an intentional wardrobe: the pieces do more, so you can own less.

And please don’t look at this capsule and think you need to buy all of it. Actually — I’d love it if you didn’t.

Shop your closet first. If you already own a great white tee, use it. If your favorite jeans fit beautifully, you don’t need mine. If there’s an olive jacket hiding in the back of your closet — go get her.

Use this capsule as a formula, not a shopping assignment. Then, if you notice a genuine gap, I’ve linked the exact pieces I chose so you can shop intentionally, rather than adding another random item to your closet.

As a paid subscriber, you’ll get:

  • The full capsule — every piece I handpicked, and why I believe it earned its spot.

  • 30 real-life outfits — from casual everyday looks to more elevated combinations you can actually wear.

  • The outfit formulas — so you learn why the combinations work and can recreate them with your own wardrobe.

  • My stylist notes — the little things I look at: proportion, layering, versatility, fabric, and fit.

  • Shop the capsule — direct links to every piece, for the gaps your closet genuinely has.

But more than anything, I hope this gives you something we could all use a little more of: ease.

I want you to open your closet this fall and know what goes together. I want you to have a few outfits you love so much that you happily wear them again next week. I want shopping to feel more intentional. And I want getting dressed to feel fun again.

Because a wearable wardrobe isn’t the one with the most clothes. It’s the one that makes getting dressed for your real life easier.

So grab a coffee, open your closet, and let’s build some outfits.

Welcome to The Wear List. I’m really glad you’re here.

Here are three to get you started. The full capsule — plus all 30 outfits, the formulas, and my stylist notes — is just below for paid subscribers.

Effortless Stripe — the brown wide-leg trouser + the navy stripe + the loafer + gold hoops + the sunglasses.
Stylist note: Stripe + trouser + a little gold is the French-girl formula that never expires — and the trouser wears like sweats.

One-and-Done — the sweater dress + the loafer + the gold pendant + the woven tote.
Stylist note: One piece, zero decisions, and you still look like you put thought into it. (Wait until you see the other eight ways I wear this exact dress.)
