50% Off The Uncertainty Toolkit And a Stark Reminder of the Cost of Uncertainty

I know. In the last Substack, I said I’m done with the book-launch, New Year’s Eve, please-buy-the-book bluster, and that standard, rambling service would resume.

But two things happened worth sharing: Amazon just listed the book at a very decent 50% discount and then something more interesting about the cost of uncertainty.

In that email, I mentioned almost in passing that I had 14 spare promo copies of The Uncertainty Toolkit, and that if money was tight, people could quietly drop me a note.

Then we went out on New Year’s Day, hunting our book in the wild, taking pictures, getting overexcited, and (nearly) getting told off for putting it in the window.

And when I got home, all the free promo copies had been claimed, each with humility, gratitude, and a brief explanation of why our book felt needed but unaffordable.

They are all going in the post today, and if I am honest, it was a sharp and sobering reminder of how stretched things are for so many people.

Which brings me to the practical bit, two things:

  1. Amazon have put the book at 50 per cent off in the UK, We’ve no idea how / why they selected us, but we’re told it’s a good sign, but won’t last long, so if you were hovering, but £16 felt like a stretch, it is currently half that on Amazon.

  2. When I told Katherine how many messages I had received, she said she had five more promo copies. If you considered asking but did not, you should know you would be in very good company, and send immediately, if needed.

Either option is great by us, we’re motivated by being useful, more than commercial.

What has mattered most this week has not been sales charts or rankings, but the messages. People sending screenshots of confirmations, or signing up to the Jan webinar or simply, cheering us on, as ever.

That support has landed more than you probably realise, in what feels like a weird moment to launch a book, it’s quiet out there, and regular life trucks on, nap times and awful colds don’t care much for book launches.

And if you have got a copy, then one of our ways of saying thanks is you can ask us literally anything about overcoming uncertainty in 2026 at the webinar we’re running in Jan to say thanks for all the books bought.

And now I really do mean it, enough plugging and promoting, back to the usual reflective, introspective, far-too-long slightly unruly Substacks very soon.

Thank you for backing this work in whatever way you have.

Sam (and Katherine)
