Writing this a little blurry eyed after seeing Santigold in concert last night—so much fun! If you get the chance, go. We saw her in Ojai, it was a perfect warm night with a full moon to top if off. We ended up at Radio Roma afterwards which has the coolest vibe and the best tacos. A summer highlight!

Some favorite things to note lately…

THE BEST LIP SUNSCREEN

We’ve reached the crispy portion of summer where everyone has had a little too much sun and heat. Sunscreen bottles are half full and I finally wised up to the fact that I need a better lip sunscreen. I re-ordered a favorite that was hard to find for a hot minute but it’s back! The IS Clinical Lip Protect SPF 35 (with vitamin E) has a thickness to it that I love but also the coconut scent is super subtle and doesn’t taste wierd, like most lip sunscreens. It also isn’t drying which I like, instead I feel like I put on my favorite creamy lip balm. Also a fan of the IS Clinical lip Serum to use at night.

STRAIGHT LEG DARK DENIM JEANS

It’s been on my list to find a great pair of dark denim jeans with a straight leg cut. I’m a bit particular in the denim category and recently tried this pair from Z SUPPLY that I was so happy with how they fit and also the price. I went down a rabbit hole on the site and found a few other things that caught my eye like this striped cardigan and this shirt for fall.

Jumping on some Fall things lately, like the perfect suede loafer—this one is coming out next week designed by yours truly! More on this week!
THE PODCAST I’M SENDING TO EVERYONE

Being over 40 means you’re most likely on a focused wellness journey of some sort. I’m always tuning into different podcasts that touch on elements that involve hormones, longevity and nutrition. I listened to this one recently about vitamin D that shook me a little and I immediately sent to girlfriends. Definitely worth a listen if you struggle with sleep, hormones and are taking vitamin D.

RH DINNER WITH A SIDE OF HOME INSPIRATION

We’re knee-deep in a handful of home projections and renovations and one of them is a new patio that we’re adding—beyond excited for this to come together! We’re using the same Orca Living pavers that we used in our front patio (pictures coming soon!) and doing a stone fireplace that will transform the space completely. We took the girls to RH in Montecito for dinner and some outdoor furniture browsing and had such a fun night. We ended up choosing a set, having the best meal and made a memory around a big purchase that I know we’ll never forget. Home projects can become a bit dizzying and this got me out of my head and in a more inspired state that felt so needed. Left with more ideas!

The dreamiest bedding set up at RH, Chanel purchases and dark brown denim I have my eye on.
GOLD ALBUM JEWELRY FISH CHARMS

I stumbled into the Goop store recently and got to see a jewelry brand in person that I’ve heard many things about—The Gold Album. Obsessed with so many of her pieces (how good are these earrings!) but especially these fish charms that come in different stones like pink quartz, mandarine moonstone and mother-of-pearl… and diamonds on the tail! High on my wishlist!

***She’s doing a trunk show at the cutest new Alchemy Works store that recently opened in Carmel (right next to the candy store). It looks like the most perfect seaside treasure trove, hoping to get up there soon to check it out in person!

A FRENCH SKINCARE LINE

I’ve seen Mimétique pop up a handful of times and was so intrigued I ordered a few of their products. The branding sucked me right in, love that it looks like a French Pharmacy product, but when I saw a makeup artist raving about the face wash I had to try it. The line is known for being ideal for sensitive skin (check for me!) and an innovative science backed formula that mimics our skins natural function using ingredients our skin already contains—so it enhances on a natural level. Also ordered the eye cream (code SAMANTHA15) that is supposed to be amazing for dry/sensitive skin.

MY FIRST CHANEL PURCHASE

Back in May we were at the Mirmar Hotel for brunch on Mother’s Day and my sisters and I swung my the Chanel store to do some innocent browsing. I can’t explain it but I’ve never really felt pulled to spending money on anything Chanel over the years but I put on the classic slingback flats in nude/black and immediately had a change of heart and walked away knowing I would come back for them at some point. Fast forward to our recent staycation and they still had my size, I took it as a sign! Such a classic style I can’t wait to wear them for Fall with jeans and dressed up with different fall prints.

BACK TO SCHOOL

We’re officially in back-to-school mode over here and saved some of my favorite things/finds for the girls in an edit here if you’re in the same girl boat! I’m a sucker for cute erasers and little surprises on their first day.

Hope you’re all having a perfect August so far!

xx Sam
