Salt Traces · Salt’s Substack

Salt Traces is a collective of four. All four of us have quite different backgrounds, but at the same time we are united by the same vision and a belief in parallel ways of knowledge production, epistemological justice, as well as imaginaries, the nostalgias, and the fantasies of what might be.

Salt Traces is a collective that explores interrelations between water bodies, food and communities in the backdrop of climate change. The starting point is the Caspian Sea and the communities living around the Absheron peninsula and in the South of Azerbaijan. With this project, we aim to create a space for discussion and reflection on the perception of climate change and its impact on daily life through an exploration of food, recipes, and daily eating habits linked with the plummeting water levels at Caspian. The collective consists of Aysel Akhundova, Ilaha Abasli, Mujgan Abdulzade and Nazakat Azimli.
