What if I told you brands don’t care how many followers you have?
And that you don’t need to become an influencer or have 100K followers or even post on your page to make a full-time income creating content for brands?
If that sounds odd to you, it’s because you don’t know about User-Generated Content (UGC).
Today’s Creator 101 episode features my friend Toni, who has built a career in this space and explains how it all works. Here’s what Toni sent to me to share with you:
The era of needing a big following to make money online has died.
Now, with your 1,000 followers, 500 followers, even 200 followers, you can start making money online through UGC.
UGC (User-Generated Content) is content you create for brands to use in their own marketing.
Unlike influencer marketing, you don’t need a large following or even have to post the content on your own page. The brand pays you to create videos or other forms of content they can run on their social media pages, website, or as ads.
And guess what? You don’t have to post it on your page. UGC is a service you render as a content creator.
It’s one of the fastest-growing opportunities in the creator economy, especially for people who enjoy making content but don’t necessarily want to become influencers.
Now, why do brands want UGC? Why is UGC relevant? I have two reasons for you.
#1: Brands have realized that people connect better with relatable storytelling compared to polished ads. We’re all guilty of scrolling faster when we see ads.
#2: Polished ads are relatively expensive. This is why brands are opting for UGC creators who can help create videos to help them promote their products and services. And that’s where you come in as a creative.
I have students with less than 1,000 followers who already earn well from brands.
You’d be surprised to find that one international UGC deal could pay your rent. You just need to know:
How to pitch
What to charge, and
How to package yourself so brands take you seriously.
So if you love making content, shooting videos, and you want to get paid for it, you need to get into UGC ASAP!
If UGC sounds like something you’d love to explore, she’s putting together a class where she goes much deeper than we could in a single Creator 101 video. Click here to get in!
This is Creator 101, your daily dose of creative momentum, and I will see you tomorrow.
