Third times a charm, that’s what they say, isn’t it? My third trip to Iceland was exactly that, charming. Upon reaching Keflavik, I had 6 hours to roam and wander before picking my boyfriend up from the airport. I successfully acquired the hire car, which was upgraded to a Jimny upon arrival, and planned our first 2.5 days where we would be around Reykjavik in a gorgeous Airbnb before a crossover day at the Golden Circle & Thingvellir National Park. There is a particular magic to visiting a place with sentimental value to you, but with someone else who is experiencing it for the first time. This mix of appreciation and memory with new found wonder and awe seems to create more space for excitement. This are some of the photographs taken from our first evening whale watching, a day in Reykjavik city and then a loop around the golden circle.
