Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are returning to Britain — and when it came to finding a place to call home, they turned to an unexpected friend: Ellen DeGeneres.

Sources tell Naughty But Nice that Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, quietly advised the Sussexes after making their own move to the UK. And for Harry, the guidance was especially valuable. Despite being British, the prince has spent most of his life inside royal residences and has little experience navigating the property market like everyone else.

“Harry knows Britain, but he doesn’t know British real estate,” a source tells Naughty But Nice. “He’s never had to think about neighborhoods, privacy, security or whether a house actually works for his family. Those decisions were always made around him.”

Enter Ellen.

The former talk-show host and Meghan have known each other for years, while Ellen and Portia have firsthand experience relocating to Britain as internationally recognizable celebrities.

“Ellen wasn’t playing real-estate agent — she was much more useful than that,” the insider explains. “She told them where to look, what to avoid and which areas offered genuine privacy without leaving them isolated from London.”

For Harry, it was essentially a crash course in ordinary home hunting.

“Harry knows how to live in a palace, but finding a normal house is completely different,” the source adds. “Ellen and Portia gave him the real-world education nobody in the royal family ever had to.”

The Sussexes now have their British base. The bigger question is what happens when they actually start living there.
