it’s high time we legalize weed in Iowa

I’m not exactly the prototypical candidate for governor in Iowa: I’m also the State Auditor, a skateboarder, a bowhunter, and — if you can believe it in 2026 — still the only statewide elected official who openly supports legalizing weed.

There are plenty of reasons why Iowa should legalize weed ASAP, but if you’re thinking to yourself, say less Rob, where do I sign? — Then feel free to add your name to my petition calling on the Hawkeye State to finally legalize weed.

I’ve been calling on Iowa to legalize weed for years now, but the partisan insiders who’ve had complete control of our state government for the last decade have been holding us back.

Here are three big reasons why Iowa should legalize weed, and do it soon:

1. Iowa is missing out on tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue. Neighboring states that have legal weed are putting the tax revenue toward things like public safety, education, and improving government services.

2. Legalizing weed would create jobs right here in Iowa. At a time when Iowa’s economy is struggling, legalizing adult-use cannabis is estimated to create around 7,000 jobs.

3. It’s morally the right thing to do. Nobody should be incarcerated for smoking weed, and it’s long overdue that we work to right some of history’s wrongs.

I think it’s high time we legalize weed here in Iowa, and the benefits would be substantial and long-lasting. If you agree with me, please add your name to my petition today!
