The Reflecting Pool is a perfect reflection of the regime's insidious pathology

Like pretty much everything else his regime concocts, Trump’s insidious and Orwellian anti-weaponization fund is an absolute travesty but, damn, the Democrats might want to fire up a legit one when they get back into power. And let’s just stipulate right now that at least a couple of million from that hypothetical fund should immediately go to David Hearn, the former Olympian who innocently dipped his pinky into the (non)Reflecting Pool and has since become a targeted enemy of the state. Weeks after Judge Box Wine dropped the totally bullshit case against him, admitting to a judge that the damage to the cee-ment pond, as every sentient person already knew, was due to a botched renovation, not vandalism, the White House of the alleged most powerful person in the world - who is, in reality, the most insecure needy human being on earth - has, the Wall Street Journal reports today in an exclusive, instructed the Justice Department to look into a new prosecution of Hearn. This is sheer malign madness.

As quoted in the Journal, Norm Eisen, Hearn’s co-counsel, says a new prosecution “would mark a shocking first: Bringing back from the dead a case that the DOJ lost by its own admission that it lacked the evidence to convict.” Well, we, tragically, have a lot of hideous firsts with these creeps. The next move here is up to newly sworn in AG Todd Blanche and, sadly, we know where this is going.

And we have yet another example today of how the idiocy never ends with these clowns, it just gets put on autopilot. Trump’s hand-picked totally corrupt Kennedy Center board today voted to put the dear leader’s name back on a memorial to a dead guy. Always staying classy, right? After a federal judge, in May, ordered Trump’s name off the Kennedy Center, today’s board action, the Washington Post reports, would place an inscription below the building’s sign reading (in a larger font, no doubt) “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump,” because apparently someone desperately needs a participation trophy.

The move will almost assuredly send the issue back to court. Meanwhile, so Trump’s fee-fees aren’t hurt, a large unsightly tarp is still hung over the name of the - at least currently - Trump-less center. My goodness, even after all these years, it is still absolutely breathtaking what a pathetic little bitch this asshole is.

Meanwhile, remember when all the “don’t tread on me” types were up in arms about government intrusion into their lives – you know, for really terrible and meddlesome things like, say, having to provide their email address to buy a high powered assault weapon? Good times.

Now they’re all in on the feds acting, for all intents and purposes, like the old East German secret police. In a pants-pissingly chilling piece today, the New York Times reports that, in the wake of the ICE murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, DHS goons launched “investigations” into labor unions, environmental action groups, and seemingly any group that didn’t sound pro-MAGA, to try to pin bogus charges on them for helping who the regime called the “violent agitators” on the street. Holy shit!!!

The US modern-day Stasi agents obtained personal financial records, conducted covert surveillance, spied on meetings, and infiltrated group chats – all of people who had never even been accused of any crimes!!!! Whoa!!!! This, the Times delicately notes, is “crossing the line that has traditionally stood between investigating criminal activity and political dissent.” Crossing the line??? To put a finer point on it: It is a f*cking outrage and an indelible stain on our country. At this point it is, tragically, impossible to count the number of lines that have been crossed.

Finally, while it takes extraordinary measures to shame Trump and his confederacy of supplicant idiots (Charlie Sykes often points out that “shamelessness is their superpower”) the Military Times, writing earlier this week about how the fetid and inhumane conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln were causing sailors to literally jump overboard, appears to have pulled it off. The Wall Street Journal reports today that the Navy is – finally - preparing to send another ship, the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, to the Gulf to replace the Lincoln.

To say it’s about time is a gross understatement. As the Journal story notes, in a letter to wildly incompetent drunk former Fox weekend host Pete Hegseth, Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal pointed out that “the Lincoln has been deployed for more than 250 days and it hasn’t made a port call in 200 days, setting a record for consecutive days at sea.”

The regime, which makes a big faux show of “supporting the troops,” obviously didn’t give a shit about the sailors who were running out of soap, toothpaste and food, as MS NOW reported, while dealing with “water contamination, plumbing issue and deteriorating metal health,” until the Military Times rubbed it in their face. A regime official told the Journal that “the carrier rotation was planned before concerns were raised about the living conditions.” Yeah, sure.

Since the default assumption these days is that anything that comes out of the “president’s” piehole is utter bullshit, that quaint old practice of fact checking has pretty much bitten the dust. Some of his vomitous nonsense, though, is so stupid and so dangerous that documented refutation is especially welcome.

Case in point is Dr. Trump the other day, in a statement right up there with his famous prescription suggesting people inject bleach up their ass to fight COVID, insisting that childhood vaccines needed to be cut back because kids were getting vaccines “the size of a soda bottle” injected into them. So good on The Bulwark’s Jonathan Cohn for, apparently unlike any of the legions of White House staffers assisting the dear leader, actually measuring the volume of liquid (LOLOLOL as if!!!) that is going into kids. Turns out it amounts to “half a teaspoon at the most,” which, as Cohn points out, “is not even in the same universe” as the “size of a soda bottle” that Trump claimed, because of course it wasn’t.

You have to wonder what Dr/Senator Bill Cassidy thought about that soda bottle insanity, right? Well, just when you thought that Cassidy couldn’t humiliate himself any more than he already has, the pitiful sad sack, who beclowned whatever integrity he had left by casting the deciding votes for RFK Jr and Todd Blanche, refused to admit today that he had second thoughts about his vote for Kennedy.

This is really something since the pathetic Cassidy has spent the last few days handwringing over Trump’s executive order – which came about through RFK Jr’s efforts – to limit childhood vaccines, posting videos pleading with parents “as a doctor” to have their kids vaccinated no matter what the "president" and the HHS Secretary say. You know and I know that this ball-less POS forfeited pulling that “as a doctor” card when he voted for the roadkill enthusiast but maybe that’s just us.

When asked on CNBC this morning whether he regretted his vote for Kennedy, Cassidy preposterously replied: “If you want to tell me that somebody didn't tell me the truth, and I should've seen in the future they were not gonna tell the truth, you can say, 'Bill you should've seen into the future.’” Are you freaking kidding me with this shit???? Everyone on earth who ever, say, read a newspaper, knew full well that RFK Jr was a science-denying anti-vaxx batshit crazy whack job. You didn’t need to be a clairvoyant to figure it out FFS!!! I can hardly wait what his future excuse will be about Blanche.

Far be it from me to dole out advice but here’s a free tidbit for soon-to-be-ex Senator Cassidy: Do yourself a favor and STFU.
