Robert Sinn · Goldfinger Capital

John Robins is one of Canada’s most accomplished mineral exploration entrepreneurs, investors and company builders. A professional geologist and prospector with more than 35 years of industry experience, Robins co-founded Discovery Group, an alliance of exploration companies focused on identifying, financing and advancing high-quality mineral discoveries. Over his career, he has been involved with major discoveries including the Coffee Gold deposit in Yukon, the Three Bluffs gold deposit in Nunavut, the Aviat/Churchill diamond districts, and the Great Bear gold project in Ontario.

Robins has been instrumental in more than C$3 billion of mining M&A activity and more than C$1 billion of exploration expenditures. His most notable successes include Kaminak Gold, acquired by Goldcorp for approximately C$510 million; Great Bear Resources, acquired by Kinross Gold for C$1.8 billion; and Great Bear Royalties, acquired by Royal Gold for C$200 million. Known for combining geological insight with capital-markets expertise, Robins has built a reputation for recognizing promising exploration opportunities early, assembling strong technical teams and providing the capital and strategic guidance necessary to create shareholder value. In 2025, he received the PDAC Viola R. MacMillan Award recognizing his lifetime leadership and contributions to mineral exploration and mining.

I would like to introduce John Robins to viewers and readers of Goldfinger capital—Part I of a two-part conversation.
