Travel with me to Myanmar in February 2027

I will be going back to Myanmar next February if you wish to travel with me.

This fabulous trip is organised by Bertie Lawson of Sampan Travel and is the journey of a lifetime. We start in Yangon and get to know this old city, before flying to Mandalay, an even older Bamar town and home of the old Kingdom deposed by the British in 1885. After spending a few days looking at the battles of 1942 and 1945 we travel to the old hill station of Maymyo, before driving across the dry central belt via Meiktila to Bagan on the Irrawaddy. We do it at the same time of year as Bill Slim’s 14th Army reconquered the country in 1945, so you’ll get a good sense of the challenges this remarkable army faced on its way to victory.
