Nemesis

My good friend Professor Kate Venables has been ruthlessly removing all my excess verbiage on my new manuscript on the great battle of Kohima in 1944. It is a substantial tome, but thanks to Kate’s (and other’s exertions) it will at least now be readable. Professor Bob White has being doing likewise, but he has been far gentler with me than Kate…

But what shall I call the book? It is due out mid-2027.

Kate doesn’t like my holding title, which is Kohima, The Greatest Battle. Although this harks back nicely to the debate in 2013, I agree with her. 'The ‘greatest’ seems a bit hackneyed. So what do I call it? The book uses Japanese sources in particular to understand the arguments around the nature and scale of what became Operation U Go, so I’ve suggested to Kate Moore, my editor at Osprey/Bloomsbury, that we call it this:
