Mission Brief
This isn’t just a newsletter. It’s your flight log. Each week you and I take one tiny mission—one espresso shot of action—to move your marketing career a little closer to orbit.
AI is moving faster than most people’s confidence. Many freeze. Some sit on the sidelines and “wait to see.” A small group quietly builds new workflows so they don’t get left behind.
You’re choosing that last group. That’s why you’re here.
Let me be honest about what I keep seeing on my commute:
We’re surrounded by 2025 tech, but still working like it’s 2018.
Endless decks. Slow approvals. Tiny tests.
We know AI could make things lighter, but our hands still reach for the old way.
That isn’t laziness. It’s old wiring.
The new skill is micro-adaptability: small, low-risk shifts you stack week after week until your workday feels different.
Think of Orbit & Espresso as your weekly workbook: one page, one mission, one notch more confident.
1. Five-Minute Grounding Scan (Daily)
Tomorrow morning, coffee in hand, do this once:
Scan 1 trend
Skim 1 AI/tech update
Notice 1 creator move that catches your eye
Then jot a single line in your notes:
“If this is true, what might I tweak in how I work today?”
One idea. Not a strategy deck. Just a micro course correction.
2. Friction Hunt (Daily)
Tonight, on the train home or before you close the laptop, ask:
“What is one tiny thing that made work feel heavier than it needed to today?”
Examples:
Copy-pasting from one doc to another
Rewriting the same email from scratch
Chasing the same status update in three apps
Tomorrow, remove or reduce that one friction.
One click, one step, one meeting at a time. That’s how orbit is built.
3. AI Weekly Tool Challenge
Once this week, block 30–45 minutes. Headphones on. Espresso nearby.
This is not “playing with AI.” This is building a tiny system that actually earns its keep.
Define one tiny outcome:
Save 10 minutes
Ship one extra post
Clean up one messy step
Use this week’s mission tool to hit that outcome.
Screenshot what worked. Make one note on what didn’t.
Keep the win, discard the rest. That’s your new pattern.
Clip, Ship, and Sip
We’re taking one long asset and turning it into a whole orbit of visibility.
Input: one long Zoom, webinar, podcast, or screen recording.
Tool: OpusClip (or similar) + AI hooks.
Output: 3–5 short clips, each with:
A strong hook
One clear CTA
Your workbook prompt:
“How can I make one piece of content quietly work for me all week?”
Goal: prove to yourself that you don’t need more ideas—you need better systems around the ones you already have.
Pick one behavior from your old career OS:
Manual reporting
Rewriting the same email
Over-prepping for routine meetings
Hoarding drafts you never ship
Now:
Replace it with a lighter, faster AI-assisted version—ideally tied to this week’s video-clipping mission.
Capture a simple before/after line:
“Before: ___. After: ___.”
Share it with one person who matters (manager, teammate, or future you in a performance review).
This is how you quietly build your “I built that system” portfolio.
You don’t have to outrun AI.
You just need to outgrow last month’s version of how you work.
One orbit at a time. One espresso at a time.
Strap in. This is just your first orbit.
My best,
Robb
